Q: Our wedding is a year away. When should we reserve tuxedos?
A: We prefer to work with a couple early. The wedding gown should be ordered eight (8) months before the wedding,
the bridesmaid dresses six (6) months before, and the tuxedo decisions made four (4) months before.
Once the tuxedo styles and colors have been determined for each wedding party member, we suggest all
people be measured two (2) or more months before pickup.
Q: When can we pick up all of the tuxedos?
A: Your tuxedos will be ready for a final fitting on the Thursday before a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
wedding. It is important for each wedding party member to come in and try on their tuxedo as early as
possible. We will be ready when we open on Thursday at 11:00 AM.
Q: What if something doesn’t fit?
A: Good measurements and accurate order fulfillment are keys to a problem free event. If we encounter
an unexpected surprise, we will do everything in our power to correct the situation. This is why final fittings, as early
as possible, are essential.
Q: How much is a “basic” tuxedo?
A: There is no such thing as a “basic” tuxedo. Our budget tuxedos are a one button notch lapel jacket,
with pleated trousers, a pleated formal shirt, a bow tie, studs, cufflinks, and a cummerbund. Shoes are not included. This
rents for $69.95 plus a damage waiver and sales tax. The average tuxedo rental, with upgraded accessories, (full back vest,
long/windsor tie, and premium shoes) is $120-$145 depending on labels chosen. This is true everywhere.
Q: Can you match my bridesmaid’s dresses?
A: Vests and ties are available in a wide range of colors. About 75% of our brides will match their groomsmen’s
accessories with their bridesmaid’s dresses. The groom’s accessories will usually match the bride’s gown when this is done.
The father’s accessories are usually black to match his tuxedo.
Q: How are out-of-town people measured?
A: If we are unable to measure someone, they simply go to a men’s formalwear dealer in their hometown and ask
to be measured. The measurements are universal and each formalwear expert knows what information is needed by another store. Measurements
may be submitted to us through our website www.jaysformal.com. Alternatively, measurements may be called in by dialing 352-377-9548.
Q: What is the largest size you carry?
A: “Large” is a relative term. We can fit almost everyone in almost every style we rent. If someone weighs over 300-350
pounds, we can still fit them. Please discuss individual situations with us for a better answer.
Q: I need a tuxedo tomorrow. Can you get it?
A: Anything is possible. Additional costs are substantial. We usually recommend someone else who may have in stock tuxedos.
If you plan further in advance, we are able to get exactly what you would like with no extra costs.
